Election of Members to IMO Council for biennium 2024-25

The contenders of the Council election were invited by the president for short speech one by one. India’s speech was also ready. However, due to paucity of time, the Assembly decided to have no speech and start the voting procedure. Three separate voting rounds were conducted for electing Members of the Council in category (a), category (b) and category (c). The members of delegations of Nigeria and Iceland were nominated for scrutiny of ballet papers.

India was elected in Category (b) representing the states of largest interest in seaborne trade, for Binnum 2024-25 securing highest votes. The vote Talley was as below;
