Roles and Responsibilities

  • Branch Management: Oversees the operations and staff of the Training Branch within DGS.
  • Policy Implementation: Implements policies related to shipping, MTIs, training matters, and other relevant areas.
  • Supervision and Control: Supervises and controls the activities of the Training Branch, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations.
  • Assistance to Higher Officers: Assists senior officers like the DG, Addl. DG, and Dy. DG in policy matters and other duties.
  • Disposal of Representations: Initiates action on representations and grievances received from the public related to MTIs and training matters.
  • Maritime Training Institutes: Handles course approvals (pre-sea and post-sea) and other training-related matters for MTIs.
  • Maritime Education and Training: Promotes and regulates maritime education and training in coordination with international bodies.
  • RTI & CPGRAM: Performs duties of CPIO of the branch and monitors grievances received from seafarers and public on DG Shipping’s portal.
  • Pension Cases: Initiates action on settlement of pension cases for employees.
  • Other Duties: Performs various other duties as directed by superiors related to the Training Branch.

  • Work related to MTIs located under the jurisdiction of the PO MMD Mumbai and Kolkata.
  • Drafting of Orders and Circulars as per the instructions of the higher authorities.
  • Annual Fee.
  • Court Cases filed by MTIs of the concerned region.
  • Hindi and QMS report.
  • Work related to IN Transition.
  • Minutes of Meeting
  • Work related to In-principle presentation and approval.
  • Show Cause Notice of all MTIs irrespective of the regions located.
  • Withdrawal and suspension order of all MTIs irrespective of the regions located.
  • Checking of email on daily basis and replying to queries of the candidates at branch level.
  • Issues related to CET.
  • Handling of request of candidates which are to be resolved by Technical team.
  • File work related to NIMHANS.
  • VIP references w.r.t to MTIs located in the respective branch.
  • Complaints received from candidates w.r.t to concerned MTIs.
