Roles and Responsibilities

1 Shri. Nebu Oommen Ship Surveyor cum Dy Director General (Tech)
  • Responsible for policies interventions for the promotion of Indian Shipping.
  • Implementation of Sec 406/407 of the MS Act and issuance of SPL's therein.
  • Development, implementation & Review of Policies of the Government (Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways) as lead for Shipping Development.
  • Monitoring and publishing the Tonnage data, periodically.
  • Development & Implementation of Policies for the Promotion of Indian Flag such as Right of First Refusal (RoFR), Subsidy scheme etc.
  • Increasing Employment opportunities for Indian Seafarers.
  • Approval of Chartering Permission/License to Foreign Flag Vessels under Section 406 & 407 of MS Act, 1958.
  • Modernize and improve the quality of India's fleet for safe and secure expansion of the maritime sector thereby enhancing the safety of life and ships at sea.
  • Tax related Issues & Proposals related to Indian Shipping.
  • Review/Amendment of various Circulars/Orders/Guidelines related to Shipping Development Branch.
2 Shri Dharmendra Kumar Assistant
  • Processing the files related to import/export/CoA/Coastal applications.
  • Maintaining the data related to chartering permissions.
  • Preparing Hindi Quarterly report.
  • Preparing RTI replies / Parliamentary questions.
  • Dealing with various policy related matters such as ROFR, Subsidy scheme, age norms, offshore certification etc.
  • Provide material related to monthly D.O. / any miscellaneous information asked by the Ministry.
3 Shri Umesh Kumar Ranjan Assistant
  • Processing/scrutinizing the SPL applications related to offshore operations.
  • Providing necessary data to co-ordination branch.
  • Maintaining the data related to chartering permissions.
  • Preparing RTI replies / Parliamentary questions.
  • Dealing with various policy related matters such as ROFR, Subsidy scheme, age norms, offshore certification etc.
  • Provide material related to monthly D.O. / any miscellaneous information asked by the Ministry.
4 Shri Sandeepan Manna Lower Division Clerk
  • Processing the files related to import/export/coastal applications.
  • Preparing Monthly Tonnage Statements and maintaining the qualitative data on Indian Tonnage.
  • Capturing the qualitative data on Chartering permission issued to foreign flag vessel under Section 406/407 of MS Act, 1958.
  • Dealing with various Policy related matters such as ROFR, Subsidy scheme, age norms, offshore certification, Tax related issues etc.
  • Preparing replies to RTI / Parliamentary questions.
  • Provide material related to monthly D.O./any miscellaneous information asked by the Ministry.
5 Ms. Namrata Namdev Kudav Data Entry Operator
  • Preparing Monthly Tonnage Statements and maintaining the qualitative data on Indian Tonnage.
  • Maintaining the qualitative data on Chartering permission issued to foreign flag vessel under Section 406/407 of MS Act, 1958.
  • Assist in processing of applications related to chartering permission for Import/Export/Coastal/Offshore operations.
6 Shri Subhash T. Shiravale Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS)
  • Maintaining files related to chartering permission, correspondence, letters etc.
  • Assist in daily administrative tasks for smooth functioning of SD Branch.
