Centralised Attendance System
- To streamline attendance procedures at DGS-approved maritime training institutes, the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has implemented a centralized facial biometric attendance system with these features:
- Automated face detection that identifies and captures optimal facial frames
- Face alignment technology with minor correction capabilities
- Pose correction for facial images captured at various angles
- Illumination adaptation to handle varying lighting conditions
- Automated verification of student registration against passport data
- Attendance requirements:
- 100% attendance for courses under 5 days duration
- 90% minimum attendance for all other maritime courses
Verified during Course Inspection Process (CIP) and inspections by MMD Principal Officers or DGS officials.
- CDAC developed the Centralized Attendance System (CAS) module in 2020 with INDoS photo verification capabilities.
- Technical support available via cas-dgs@cdac.in for:
- MTI implementation issues
- Seafarer photo verification
