Seafarer Help & Facilitation Desk

On 18 September 2025, the “Seafarers’ Assistance and Facilitation Center” was inaugurated at the Government Shipping Office, Kolkata by the auspicious hands of Shri Sushil Manasingh Khopde, IPS Officer, Additional Director General of Shipping, Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India. The inauguration took place in the presence of Shri Rajesh H. Mendhe, Seamen’s Welfare and Director, Government Shipping Office & Seamen’s Employment Office, Kolkata; Shri Vikrant Rai, Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department, Kolkata; and all the staff members of both offices. The purpose of this center is to provide every possible assistance and facility related to the maritime sector to all seafarers — not only from Kolkata but from every region of India — and to spread the message across the maritime community that the assistance and welfare of seafarers is our foremost duty.
